This week, we’re back with another convention tip from Geek Girl Strong’s Robyn Warren.
SDCC starts in a week (cue panic), and con prep is in full swing.
No matter how many cons I’ve gone to, I live and die by packing lists and checklists. We’ve written our fair share of convention survival guides and have scoured the internet for the best of con prep advice.
If you were at our geeky networking panel at Emerald City Comic Con, I promised that we would round up all the badass bosses you heard in one list for you. If you weren’t able to attend our panel, you missed a lot of incredible stories and tips about making real connections with the people around you and how we can all lift each other up. But, we have some exciting news:
C2E2 is like a breath of fresh air every year.
We love Chicago, the people there, and how freaking big the convention center is! Plus, Chicago breweries really show up for C2E2, and the beer fan in me is very pleased.
Emerald City Comic Con (coming to Seattle, Washington March 14-17) is one of our favorite conventions every year.
This year the Sartorial Geek crew will be hanging out at Jordandené Booth 2026 (conveniently located right next to the women’s restroom).
It’s the last day of New York Comic Con. You’re tired. Your feet hurt. You probably spent a bit more money than you’d planned to. But it was all in the name of fun and fandom, right? Right? Regardless of whether you were there for a day or a weekend, you probably need some time to relax and recharge. So, what better time is there to share my post-con skincare routine with my fellow geeks?
Of course, it isn’t exclusively for after NYCC, or any con at all. You can follow my routine whenever you feel like your skin needs a little extra TLC.
No skincare routine can start without washing your face, so do that first!
I love everything fashion and beauty, but I’m not one who always wants to sacrifice comfort for the sake of it. This especially applies to working at and attending conventions. Thousands of people crammed into one building, harsh fluorescent lights, and blasting AC that somehow make the entire building both humid and freezing at the same time certainly doesn’t sound like an event to dress up for. (That’s why I admire cosplayers so much. Those that wear their cosplay all day operate on a level of commitment I will never be able to comprehend.) Of course, years of convention-going experience has prepped me for the worst conditions. And with NYCC just around the corner, I figured there’s no better time to share with you my five comic con beauty essentials!
Without these five products, I wouldn’t survive any con, let alone my biggest one of the year next weekend.
I know, I know: I’ve talked a lot about how amazing the Jordandené zipper pouches are. But, that’s only because I firmly believe that everyone needs at least one in their life. And, with New York Comic Con just around the corner, I wanted to share a little idea I’ve had for a while now: a mini con survival kit.
Whether you’re a cosplayer, seasoned convention-goer, or manning a booth like me, you definitely need to put together something like this. And what better way to do it with one of Jordandené’s zipper pouches?
The Sartorial Geek is heading to SDCC!
The Sartorial Geek is hosting our very first live podcast episode at SDCC! Unfortunately the entire team can’t be there this year, but me (Jordan from Jordandené) and my husband Joey (aka the wonderful designer behind everything we do) are so excited to spend this week at San Diego Comic Con. The Sartorial Geek won’t have an official booth setup, but we’ll be at the con every day and trying to meet as many people as possible.
Please come say hi if you see us (you can find updates about where we’re hanging out and what I’m wearing each day in the Jordandené IG stories).
If you want to hang out at one of our official events, here’s our SDCC schedule for 2018:
