It’s the last day of New York Comic Con. You’re tired. Your feet hurt. You probably spent a bit more money than you’d planned to. But it was all in the name of fun and fandom, right? Right? Regardless of whether you were there for a day or a weekend, you probably need some time to relax and recharge. So, what better time is there to share my post-con skincare routine with my fellow geeks?

Of course, it isn’t exclusively for after NYCC, or any con at all. You can follow my routine whenever you feel like your skin needs a little extra TLC.

No skincare routine can start without washing your face, so do that first!

Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser
Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser, $21.00

Bonus points if you take a hot bath or shower with lots of steam to soften your skin and increase blood flow. (That’s actually what it does. All of that nonsense about opening and closing your pores isn’t real.) I double-cleanse. Once with Clinique’s Rinse-off Foaming Cleanser and a cleansing brush to remove dirt, makeup, and exfoliate, then again with a prescription wash. (Yay rosacea!) I go in hard with the exfoliating brush on my lips because an entire weekend of wearing liquid lipstick definitely made them dry and crusty. (And that’s just not cute.)

Now it’s time for the fun part: face masks!

Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask
Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask, $9.50

Have a sheet mask you’ve been meaning to use? Want to get crafty and make your own? Maybe there’s an unopened LUSH container in the back of your fridge somewhere? Or maybe, like me, you have a go-to for deep cleansing. This carbonated bubble clay mask always makes my skin soft and Glossier-ad-level glowy when I’m finished with it.

Plus, it’s just really funny to put on. Make a friend or roommate do it with you so you can laugh at each other when the bubbles inflate and turn your face into a storm cloud. Grab a beverage of your choice (wine for me, obvs) and let it sit on your skin for a little longer than recommended. You deserve to chill for a little longer.

Another mask, because I’m worth it.

Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels, $30.00

This is my time to indulge, so you better believe I use my favorite undereye gels after I’m finished with my clay mask. Yes, these are the same ones I mentioned in my list of convention beauty essentials and they give me the bright, awake, doe eyes I deserve, darn it.

Break out the derma roller!

Sdara Skincare Derma Roller Cosmetic Needling Instrument For Face
Sdara Skincare Derma Roller, $19.97

Obviously, this step is totally optional, but I’m obsessed with microneedling. For those of you unfamiliar: it’s done with a tool that contains hundreds of tiny needles, less than 0.5 mm thick. The needles create micro-injuries on the skin, which in turn sends collagen and elastin production into overdrive to compensate as it heals. It sounds crazy, I know, but I swear it leaves you with tighter, plumper skin afterward, and helps your skin better absorb products.

So, this is when I apply a layer of serum (Glossier’s Super Bounce is my fav), roll it in every direction over my face (being super careful under my eyes and skipping my eyelids), and apply another layer on top of it.

After the serum’s absorbed, it’s time to tone and moisturize! I soak a cotton pad in Mario Badescu Witch Hazel & Rosewater Toner and apply it to my skin. It’s soothing and smells amazing, 1o/10, would recommend to everyone. The last step is to apply your moisturizer of choice!

Now refill your drink, sit back, and relax. You’re done and your skin is thanking you!
