I know, I know: I’ve talked a lot about how amazing the Jordandené zipper pouches are. But, that’s only because I firmly believe that everyone needs at least one in their life. And, with New York Comic Con just around the corner, I wanted to share a little idea I’ve had for a while now: a mini con survival kit.

Whether you’re a cosplayer, seasoned convention-goer, or manning a booth like me, you definitely need to put together something like this. And what better way to do it with one of Jordandené’s zipper pouches?

In case you’ve missed my previous ramblings about how great these pouches are, I’ll catch you up: they’re 100% cotton. They’re perfectly portable, measure just 8.25″ L x 5.5″ H, and can easily tuck into any purse, tote, or backpack. To make them even cooler than your average bag, they’re also separated into two pockets. Yay for extra organization!

Obviously, everyone’s con survival kit will be a little different.

But, mine definitely covers all the basics. To give you an idea of where to start, all of the following fit into my zipper pouch comfortably:

Con survival kit

  • A mini sewing kit for any and all cosplay emergencies.

  • A granola bar or small snack because we all know convention center food is the worst.

  • Bandaids. I’m staying on-brand with Justice League ones.

  • Hand sanitizer for very obvious reasons. Thousands of people crammed into one already kinda-gross building? “Con crud” is so common for a reason. Here’s how to avoid it.

  • Emergency cash. Sure, almost everyone takes cards now, but it’s good to have just in case. Keep it separate from any cash you plan on spending at the convention.

  • Chapstick/skin salve. Save yourself from the dull, dry skin from blasting AC!
  • Tide To Go, again, for wardrobe/cosplay emergencies.

  • Tissues. I picked these sad Batman ones up from the amazing Super Emo Friends at Keystone Comic Con.

  • Mini notebook & pen. Vendor and artist business cards run out pretty quickly, so this will give you a chance to write down business names and booth numbers you might want to return to.

  • Portable charger & charging cable. Sure, by now, most cons have phone-charging stations already set up, but rather safe than sorry, right?

  • Microfiber cloth. For my fellow glasses-wearers, this is essential.

Not pictured:

  • Ibuprofen securely tucked away in one of the sewing kit pockets.
  • Extra hair ties and bobby pins to keep your fabulous hair intact.

And there you have it! You can never be too prepared for any con emergency and this is the perfect start to that path! Have you built your con survival kit yet? What do you keep in there that I missed? Let’s chat in the comments below!
