Ahsoka Tano has become one of my favorite Star Wars characters. It all started with my first watch of The Clone Wars about three or four years ago in prep for Star Wars Celebration in Orlando. Since then, I thought Snips was one of the coolest girls in the galaxy. I wanted to emulate her in my lightsaber combat and my day to day life.
As some of you may know, I recently co-hosted a Star Wars-themed fashion challenge. In preparation for The Rise of Skywalker premiere, we came up with daily and festive themes. By the time this post is published, the movie will be out! I’m so excited! So there won’t be any spoilers in this post (because at the time of writing this, I haven’t seen it).
‘Tis the season, and I’ve been thinking about ways to make the usual geek outfits more festive. Here are holiday style tips for geeks that aren’t just putting on another ugly Christmas sweater.
Dapper Day Fall 2019 at Disneyland, CA was the first weekend of November. It was also the first time one at the parks could include Galaxy’s Edge since that land opened after Spring Dapper Day had already taken place. Naturally, my sister and I decided to participate for the first time because Star Wars. With one month left before the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga, it felt like a nice way to kick off our celebration of the series.
Hello there, awesome nerds! We had so much fun with the Sartorial Geek Fashion Fix Challenge in the summer that we decided to run a short and sweet version for the fall!
If I were to cast the Patronus charm, I’d more likely see a dog than a Niffler shoot out from the end of my wand. I still like to call Nifflers one of my Patronuses though—they’re weird, cute, and love all things shiny, just like me! And for us geeky fashionistas, they’re the perfect muse for styling a luxe every day ensemble.
At Disney’s D23 Convention, it struck me how creative Disney fans are with their cosplay. They are masters of the fandom mash-up! This year, I saw Disney Princesses from the Spiderverse, from Pixie Hollow, and from a galaxy far, far away. You also see this creativity in Disneybounding, which is rife with character outfits in the styles of specific fashion eras.
Our feet are getting a little love in this week’s #SGStyleTip.
Hello from the other side of the Sartorial Geek’s first fashion challenge #SGFashionFix!! Though the challenge is over, I’m wrapping up by recapping my looks from Week 5. I claimed this week on the blog because my oldest nerd title is bookworm, and my bookstagram (@threadedpages, if you’re interested) is themed on bookish fashion. And that’s what the final week was all about! The Get Lit(erary)! theme celebrates everything books.
Drumroll, please… our #SGFashionFix winners are here!
First, a thank you letter. From us to you.
This is the first fashion challenge we’ve ever hosted at The Sartorial Geek, and we had no idea how it would go. Doing something new is always scary, and you all blew us away with the level of excitement and participation you brought to this challenge. 149 of you entered, and we had over 1,600 entries over five weeks. Friends, that’s freaking nuts.
