If I were to cast the Patronus charm, I’d more likely see a dog than a Niffler shoot out from the end of my wand. I still like to call Nifflers one of my Patronuses though—they’re weird, cute, and love all things shiny, just like me! And for us geeky fashionistas, they’re the perfect muse for styling a luxe every day ensemble.

How to Dress Like a Niffler

When styling a Niffler casual cosplay, there are two main components that need to be taken into account:

  1. Their black fur
  2. Their love for all things shiny.

Gold, silver, gems—if you find accessories that sparkle, you’re golden!  Metallics, gem stone hues, and black are also fabulous color combos.

Because of their bougie taste, I wanted to put together an outfit that reflected that, but keep it on a budget. Digging through my closet, I found I already had all the key ingredients for a pinup inspired Niffler ensemble.

For my casual cosplay, I paired a circle skirt with a gold jewelry motif, a black leather belt with round studs that play off the coins they’re usually pictured with, a Niffler enamel pin, gold bracelets, and a gaudy statement necklace full of colorful gems.

To make it a bit more obvious that my outfit was Niffler inspired, I added my furry Niffler backpack to complete the look.

THRIFT. I found my necklace at a thrift store for $5. When I saw it I immediately thought of Nifflers and the Infinity Gauntlet.

If you happen to be at New York Comic-Con this week, please stop by the Sartorial Geek Fashion Fix panel. I’ll be there to share some tips and tricks on how to incorporate fandom into your everyday looks, like this!

The panel will be on Sunday, October 6 from 1:30-2:30 @ the Cosplay Central Stage.

Hope to see you there!!!
