Welcome to the second annual Geek Fashion Fix Challenge! We’re so thrilled to be back with our month long summer extravaganza!! Once again, Nina and Alice return as co-hosts with stylishly geeky prompts to last throughout July.
With how long I’ve been stuck inside, I’m beginning to feel like Rapunzel at the beginning of Tangled. In fact, I’ve 100% gone around my house singing “When Will My Life Begin”. While I was doing that I couldn’t help but think this would be the perfect time to do a Rapunzel inspired makeup look. I’m in the process of moving during all of this and don’t have access to all my makeup, so I did the best I could with what I have.
I feel I should be upfront here. I was not a fan of Frozen. There’s a myriad of reasons from plot lines, to annoyance at Frozen-mania, to personal experiences at the time that tainted most experiences. But with Frozen 2, I didn’t want to take this past baggage. So with a fresh and open mind, I entered the El Capitan theater, fully expecting to at least be amused by the film.
‘Tis the season, and I’ve been thinking about ways to make the usual geek outfits more festive. Here are holiday style tips for geeks that aren’t just putting on another ugly Christmas sweater.
Dapper Day Fall 2019 at Disneyland, CA was the first weekend of November. It was also the first time one at the parks could include Galaxy’s Edge since that land opened after Spring Dapper Day had already taken place. Naturally, my sister and I decided to participate for the first time because Star Wars. With one month left before the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga, it felt like a nice way to kick off our celebration of the series.
Halloween is coming up. That means it’s the perfect time to dress up all month long. In case you don’t want to wear a full-blown costume every day in October (though why wouldn’t you?) there’s always Disneybounding. I love coming up with a good Disneybound and piecing together the perfect outfit pieces and accessories. However, you know what I love even more? Coming up with the perfect Disneybound makeup.
At Disney’s D23 Convention, it struck me how creative Disney fans are with their cosplay. They are masters of the fandom mash-up! This year, I saw Disney Princesses from the Spiderverse, from Pixie Hollow, and from a galaxy far, far away. You also see this creativity in Disneybounding, which is rife with character outfits in the styles of specific fashion eras.
Toy Story‘s Bo Peep is back, y’all and more badass than ever! Bo’s got a new lease on life, and a brand new outfit. Consider this my formal request to incorporate capes into our everyday looks . . .
SARTORIAL GEEKS: ENSEMBLE!
Welcome to Sartorial Geek’s first ever Geek Fashion Fix Challenge, co-hosted by Nina and Alice! Throughout the entire month of July (and a bit of August), we challenge you to post a new pic of a geek themed outfit based on your favorite characters and fandoms on your Instagram account.
We’ll be sharing our favorites throughout the weeks on our Instagram. Plus, the outfits you post will win you prizes from Jordandene!
My last Disneybound post, Light Side Style, outfitted you to represent the Jedi Order or join the Resistance when you arrive at Disney’s Star Wars-themed land Galaxy’s Edge. This time, I share Dark Side Disneybound options.
Where there is Light, there is also Dark, and that’s true at Black Spire Outpost, which includes the presence of the sinister First Order. So if you’re inclined towards Imperial might or the mysterious Knights of Ren, these looks are for you.
