Alright y’all, it’s been three months. Let’s talk about what I used.
Well, first of all, I accidentally got another Ipsy bag. I didn’t open the reminder email in time and paid for another bag. What was in there was some nice basic products, so let’s talk about those first!
I’m a firm believer that everyone is interesting in some way. We all have stories, talents, and histories that make us who we are. Gabriela Hernandez goes beyond interesting and into the realm of fascinating. She is a makeup historian, sits on the board of the Makeup Museum in NYC, and runs her own makeup line, Bésame Cosmetics.
So, I’ve been Animal Crossing obsessed since last March when the game out. Thus, when Colourpop Cosmetics announced their collab, I knew I needed the entire collection. It arrived a few weeks ago, so here’s a mini review of the whole collection!
First, the “balloon pop” super shock shadow and “bellionaire” glitter gel. Balloon Pop is a beautifully pigmented shade of rose gold that pairs beautifully with the rest of the collection, and it has a gorgeous shimmer. Balloon pop is a gold glitter gel with different sizes of glitters. I’ve used it on top of eyeshadow as well as on my cheeks. Both of these single products are great and would be excellent in any makeup collection!
Next are the blushes! Flower power is a very pretty shade of pink, and Flower tender is coral coloured. Both of these blushes are shimmery and lovely on the face. They are not exceptionally pigmented, which I don’t mind for a blush, but is good to know. I really love these blushes!
Next up, the mini palettes! Each has an adorable different name and features one shimmer shadow, one sequin shadow, one pressed glitter, and one matte. The color stories of each palette are gorgeous, and the shades all have game-themed names, which I loved. My one qualm with each mini palette is that there isn’t a lot of product for the price point. However, the shades are gorgeous, and it’s very easy to make a coherent look with each mini palette!
Last up, the “just a tint” mini lip tints! These products are ADORABLE and have the bonus of being scented like each fruit they’re meant to represent. Each shade is very cute and matches well with the rest of the collection! The scents are also very fun. Once again, however, the price point is high for the amount of product you get. Other than that, I recommend these!
As an added bonus, the full collection comes with this VERY cute sticker sheet! I just wanted to make sure everyone knew about the sticker sheet, because I love it!
Finally, here is a makeup look using the collection! On my eyelids is the “5 star Island” Isabelle themed mini palette, on my cheeks and nose is the “flower power” blush, and I’m wearing the “juicy apple” mini lip tint!
I hope you all enjoyed the review! This collection is seriously SO adorable and would be amazing for any Animal Crossing fan’s makeup collection!
I love having long nails. When I worked a desk job, I fluctuated between going to a salon and using press ons. But COVID made salons impossible, and a career change made long nails beyond difficult to keep up. So when I took a week for myself last month, I did my nails to celebrate!
As I’ve mentioned approximately 8 million times, I am a Project Panner. All that really means is that I like to focus on finishing products instead of buying new all the time. It means I haven’t bought soap in over a year because I have so much of it, and it’s rare that I buy most beauty products.
I am not a beauty guru, and regrettably, I do not have all the disposable income on the planet. Together, those pieces make it difficult for me to get every single makeup collection that I want. Sure, I’d love to get PR, but I’m far from being able to do that.
What I’m trying to say, is that I didn’t get ColourPop’s Sailor Moon Collection.
As a glasses wearer and a makeup lover, I sometimes find it difficult to make the two work for me. Either you can’t see my awesome nerdy makeup behind my glasses, or I find mascara smudges all over said glasses instead. I still wear contacts a lot of the time if I’m going for a really dramatic eye or a cosplay look, but I’ve definitely learned some tips and tricks to help make my makeup pop (and also keep it off my glasses).
I love Kesha, like, so much. So when I saw Kesha Rose Beauty on Instagram, of course I followed them. Lucky for me, I followed early enough to grab a palette right on release day! It got to my apartment really quickly, and I got to play with it within a week of ordering it.
