Holo friends, its me, Cristine Emily again! I’m a huge fan of Simply Nailogical, AKA Cristine Rotenberg. I’ve been watching her videos for just over a year, and I kind of love her. She’s an awk sock, a cat mom, and honestly such a positive influence. While she used to do nail tutorials (I’m sure you’ve heard of Polish Mountain), her channel is now more of whatever she wants, which is rad.

Now that Halloween has past, the turkey has been eaten, and the Black Friday sales have happened, it’s Christmas! Well, Christmas prep time, at least. I was raised in a household where you start buying holiday gifts whenever you see things. This is a fantastic practice, because it spreads the spending out quite a bit, and gets rid of the rush and (some of the) anxiety. Since I know that not everyone subscribes to this method of buying, I’ve collected a list of products that i’m really excited about. Some are items I’ve used before, some just look rad. Either way, lets dive in!

In February of 2018, I found out about something called Project Panning. It was a pretty big trend for a minute. My YouTube recommended section was full of videos on panning. Panning is, when it all comes down to it, about using your products.

I know that many of us have a lot of stuff.

While I look at minimalism with an impressed eye, I know that I will not be able to ever be a minimalist. I love knick-knacks, owning books, and not throwing things away. Often, my collector habits also exist within my cosmetic and beauty products.

I started 2018 with a pledge to not purchase anything from Lush. I have nothing against the company (I absolutely adore them, actually). But I had a massive storage container full of their products. Starting there, I learned about panning, and decided to rethink my collection as a whole.

I know I am a bit crazy about sheet masks, but I want you to know, I’m still crazy about them. I bought these two packages of face packs in Epcot’s Japan pavilion; an incredible place to buy all manner of things from Japan. That includes skincare. I hope you all remember just how much I adored the terrifying (and also surprisingly good for my skin) Gudetama mask, because we’re in that same vein here.

It’s the last day of New York Comic Con. You’re tired. Your feet hurt. You probably spent a bit more money than you’d planned to. But it was all in the name of fun and fandom, right? Right? Regardless of whether you were there for a day or a weekend, you probably need some time to relax and recharge. So, what better time is there to share my post-con skincare routine with my fellow geeks?

Of course, it isn’t exclusively for after NYCC, or any con at all. You can follow my routine whenever you feel like your skin needs a little extra TLC.

No skincare routine can start without washing your face, so do that first!

Hello again, my lovely friends! Self care has been a bit of a hot button topic recently; articles are constantly coming out about the fanciest face masks, every self help book suggests water and self care, and Parks & Rec has a whole day dubbed Treat Yo’self. What exactly does self care mean, though? Is it as simple a formula as buy yourself a bunch of unnecessary items once a year, or a weekly sheet mask? Depending on your day and needs, it’s both a yes and a no.

Last year, my mum and I packed up some clothing and toiletries, and crossed the ocean. We went to Ireland and England with a pretty clear goal: Harry Potter. The trip was originally so we could go to Leaky Con, mashed with the vow that I made to myself while finishing the Potter series; I will be in England when Harry brings his kids to King’s Cross. While not everything worked out to a t (I was still in Ireland as the Hogwarts express pulled out of Platform 9 3/4), we did get to see a lot of Potter stuff, including Leaky Con. I came back with some phenomenal items, but some of the most practical are the beauty and cleansing products I bought.
