NYCC fashion is… tricky. October weather in New York is unpredictable. If it’s warm outside, it’s usually freezing inside, and it’s always insanely humid, even if it’s only 70 degrees. All of that usually leaves part of me wanting to wear leggings, a tank, and a cardigan every day, especially when I have to work. The other part of me, though– the part that literally went to fashion school– never allows that.

So, I planned my con outfits carefully. I started watching the weather closely as far in advance as I could. I searched through the depths of my closet to ensure I wouldn’t have to go on yet another shopping spree, and I did pretty well. (Turned out I already owned everything except for a cardigan I needed to buy for the season anyway.) And finally, when the weekend came, I had four, perfectly planned-out outfits for NYCC. Here’s what I wore!

Note: Bad lighting brought to you by unpredictable weather!

Day 1

NYCC Fashion

The weather called for rain on the first day and I refreshed my app obsessively to ensure I was prepared. I wanted to mix cute and cozy for my favorite “rainy day look”. The skirt was a perfect choice in the event that I got caught in any downpour. Nobody wants to sit walk around in damp jeans all day! (Update: it didn’t rain until I left that afternoon, but I still felt cute and comfy all day. Win-win.)

Top: Jordandené Scoop Neck

Skirt: ASOS Curve

Cardigan: Universal Thread by Target

Tights: Torrid

Boots: Doc Martens

Umbrella: Abandoned at a West Village bar two years ago. It’s mine now. #NoShame

Day 2

I wanted to showcase a different Jordandené product at our booth on Friday, so I planned this outfit around one of our hats. Since I didn’t feel like doing anything with my hair, it was the best choice. I didn’t intend for this look to turn out as 80’s-inspired as it did, but I’m not mad about it. Catch me in Stranger Things season 3, maybe?

Hat: Jordandené

Tee: Charlotte Russe

Overalls: Maurices

Pins: Jordandené

Sneakers: Very well-loved and worn-in Converse

Day 3

Cooler temperatures were predicted for Saturday, so I figured it was the perfect day to break out one of our sweatshirts. (Of course, as someone who gets warm really easily, I still wore the matching tank underneath, but luckily, I was comfortable all day! Yay!) Plus, what’s cuter than a collar under a crew neck?

Sweatshirt: Jordandené

Collar: Amazon. Yes, it’s just a collar. Again, I get warm really easy, so there was no way I was wearing a button-up underneath. Luckily, these exist and give me the same look.

Skirt: Tuesday Bassen (Shout-out to my fav designer. She’s badass and size-inclusive and everything I’ve ever bought from her shop fits like a dream so go check her out!) Also? It. Has. Pockets!!!

Tights: Torrid

Shoes: Doc Martens

Day 4

The final day. I got to sleep in for the first time that weekend and my god, did I need it. As with every convention, I was totally drained on Sunday. We also had to pack up and load out our booth that night, so I allowed myself to wear something practical and comfortable. (But still cute as hell because thank god for the athleisure trend.)

Tank: Jordandené

Leggings: Fabletics. These also have pockets. That’s right: leggings with POCKETS.

Flannel: Found in a Brooklyn thrift store. Woo!

Bralette: Lane Bryant

Sneakers: Nike
