Happy new year and new decade, geeks! To break up the monotony of the long winter season, and that even longer January we just had, we’re back with the short version of our #SGFashionFix Challenge! This time, our prompts coincide with the Girl Power themes of the re-introduced 5 Fandom Friday prompts.

This is the first fashion challenge we’ve ever hosted at The Sartorial Geek, and we had no idea how it would go. Doing something new is always scary, and you all blew us away with the level of excitement and participation you brought to this challenge. 149 of you entered, and we had over 1,600 entries over five weeks. Friends, that’s freaking nuts.
We’re huge fans of Kit Cronk and her online shop Kit Cronk Studio. Her nerdy, feminist designs combine everything we love at The Sartorial Geek, and we jumped on her first Kickstarter Project: FemiNerd Enamel Pins.

Welcome to Sartorial Geek’s first ever Geek Fashion Fix Challenge, co-hosted by Nina and Alice! Throughout the entire month of July (and a bit of August), we challenge you to post a new pic of a geek themed outfit based on your favorite characters and fandoms on your Instagram account.

Growing up, when asked who my favorite Disney Princess was, I would answer, “Maleficent.” I have always been drawn to strong women. They are who I want to be. For the longest time, the only options for me were villains (the why of that is a whole different post).
Back in March, Kit Cronk had this to say about badass Disney women. I was excited to read that list, and while every woman definitely deserved to be there, it lacked some of my favorite characters: the Disney female villains. I would therefore like to offer this as a supplemental list for those of us who like the dark side.
