When the first Thor movie came out, my best friend told me I’d enjoy it because 1. It was fun, and 2. Thor was handsome and scruffy (aka my type). But as the movie progressed I couldn’t help but think, “Ooh, who’s the brother?!” I found Loki as a character very fascinating as he was troubled, sassy, misunderstood, and burdened with glorious purpose. Reading Loki: Agent of Asgard, Loki: Where Mischief Lies by Mackenzi Lee, and the new Loki series by Daniel Kibblesmith has only fueled my love for the god of mischief even more.
Oh, and let’s be honest, Tom Hiddleston as Loki definitely lured me 💚🖤
I think out of Odin’s sons, Loki’s style game is far more advanced than Thor’s. After all, it is a truth universally acknowledged that villains always have the best sartorial sensibilities. As a self-proclaimed Loki trash queen and loyal soldier of his army, he’s definitely had a strong influence on my style choices!
Loki’s Style Elements
The color combo of green, gold, and black are popularly associated with Loki. Other elements to consider are:
- The black nails he rocks in the comics
- His helmet with gold horns
- Snakes (as mentioned in Thor: Ragnarok, Norse mythology, and the comics)
- Horses (because of that one story where he turns himself into a mare 😬)
- The tesseract
When I think of Loki’s style, the words that come to mind are extravagant and luxurious. For my Loki ensemble I wanted to use my cropped Loki sweater from Jordandene and build around it. Rather than buy new things, I looked around my closet and paired it with a gold skirt, statement necklace, green and gold flats, fishnet tights, and a velvet headband I already owned.
Finding this statement necklace was a major score! When I first saw it, I thought the blue gems were reminiscent of the tesseract.
I’m so anxious for the Disney+ Loki series to come out! Not only will we get to see our fave return, but new style inspo is bound to be afoot! In the meantime, we can always flip through comic books to check out his sartorial flair!
