Alright y’all, it’s been three months. Let’s talk about what I used.

Well, first of all, I accidentally got another Ipsy bag. I didn’t open the reminder email in time and paid for another bag. What was in there was some nice basic products, so let’s talk about those first!

In my May Ipsy Bag, I received; Anastasia Mini Dip Brow, Aromatica’s Rose Cleanser, Bonajour’s Green Tea Water Bomb, an all over brush from Complex Culture, and some lip balm from Hanalei. It’s definitely all basic stuff – but most of it has already entered my regular rotation! Of these items, I think the Green Tea Water Bomb is my favorite. It’s a fantastic moisturizer that doesn’t feel too heavy on my skin, making it great for summertime!

All of that aside, let’s talk about what is left from my other Ipsy bags, and what I haven’t even touched.

So, overall, I have used 13 of the 22 items I received in the bags before this month’s. I’m pretty happy with that number, even though not everything is used to completion (and the brushes won’t be “done” for quite some time). Below is a list of everything that I received from all of the Ipsy Bags (including this month’s). I’ve italicized the products I’ve started using but haven’t finished and bolded the completely used up items!

Everything Received:

Confidence in a Cream
Highlighter Brush
Glam Up Mask (x2)

OFRA Blush
Smashbox Foundation
BrioGeo Hair Mask
Drama Bomb Mascara
Dito Galaxy Shade Shadow
FoxyBae Hair Mask
Kinship Cleanser
Blending Brush

Balance Me Eye Cream

Bonajour Water Bomb

Complex Culture Brush
Hanalei Lip Balm

I really loved the Innisfree Mask and am desperately enjoying the water bomb. The highlighter brush has also become a daily product! And while I stan NYX liquid liner, this Araceli goes on beautifully smooth and I love it.

Here’s the thing: I don’t think Ipsy is for me.

I love getting mail, and little treats for myself, but the things that I haven’t touched are mostly things that it takes forever to get out of a collection: shadows and blushes! Those are also things that I have a ton of already. So while experimenting is nice, I have a big enough collection to do that on my own.

Also, I have super finicky skin. Putting a new moisturizer on it every month is really tough on my skin, and it doesn’t help breakouts. So again, experimenting isn’t always for me.

I think Ipsy is a rad subscription. I really enjoy most of the products I’ve received, and I’m trying to focus on using some of them before other items. At the same time, I can’t afford to buy products I’ll maybe like every month, so I’ve paused my subscription until September. I think if there was an option for every 3-4 months receiving a bag, I would love that. I may see where I’m at for usage in August to determine if September’s bag is justifiable.

Again, I think Ipsy is beyond neat—the samples are high quality, I feel like they listen to our preferences really well, and $12 isn’t a ton of money. But where I’m at right now (with both my collection and money), I don’t need that every month.

So what do you think?

Do you get any subscription boxes? Any beauty boxes? Do you think they’re worth it, or totally situational?
