The last time many of us saw Luke Cage, he was teaming up with Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and Iron Fist to fight The Hand in The Defenders. But what about Season 1 of Luke’s standalone story (well, as standalone as a story can ever be in the Marvel Universe)? Here are some things to keep in mind before your binge starts on June 22…
Caution! Spoilers for Younger (season 5, episodes 1 and 2) ahead!
The most recent season of Younger totally delivered in terms of fashion. And we’re only two episodes in. Not only are the leading ladies KILLING IT, as usual – I mean, come on, we’ve already had fur coats, all kinds of bold colors, hats galore, and one VERY substantial and amazing bangle… But the men are also giving us their best in terms of suiting as well. I suppose it’s a given that a Darren Star-helmed show would make such audacious sartorial statements.
They’re Younger…but are they wiser?
Woohoo, Younger is coming back on June 5! If you haven’t yet tuned into this flirty, fashionable tale of pretty publishing people, there’s still time to get your binge on. If you’re all caught up but just need a refresher, here’s what you need to know before diving into Season 5 (Season 4 spoilers ahead):
I remember catching the pilot episode of The Mindy Project by accident when it first aired. It played right after New Girl, with which my high school-aged self was obsessed. I vividly recall watching a drunk Mindy drive a stolen bike into a swimming pool, all while wearing the most fabulous teal sequin minidress. I was hooked immediately. Mindy was not only an absolute gem to watch onscreen with her clever quips and all-around ridiculousness. But, it was probably the first time I’d seen a show focused around a woman of color who wasn’t the traditional sample size.
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to include Mindy Lahiri in this segment. Mindy Lahiri has been a style icon, and so much more to me, from the very beginning.
Sanrio is known for its super cute and colorful characters. Hello Kitty, Pochacco, Little Twin Stars, My Melody, and Gudetama, to name a few (of many). They’re iconic anthropomorphic characters. Each has their own unique personality and traits, appealing to children and adults alike.
Aggretsuko is Sanrio’s newest character whose anime series debuted on Netflix earlier this year, and it is an absolute delight.
Retsuko is an adorable, straightlaced, hardworking red panda. She works an office job by day… And releases her pent-up rage and frustration through heavy metal karaoke sessions by night.
For better or worse, I pride myself on seeing basically every TV show that’s been made. But, that doesn’t mean a few haven’t slipped through the cracks. Here are my five favorite late to the game TV discoveries:
Whether you’re a writer, a painter, a sculptor, a cosplayer, or any of the other was you can express yourself creatively, you are sure to have one thing in common with your fellow creators: doubt. Doubt, and big nasty burning hills of it. It comes with the territory.
“Am I really talented?” “Am I just ripping off the creators I like?” “Are my friends just saying they like my work because they’re my friends?” “Why do people only like my work when I copy current trends?” All things we will ask ourselves at least once a week, no matter how well we’re doing or how polished our work is. And then every few months, we hit a spiral. You know the one: where you don’t want to lift your pen or sit at your computer, where nothing seems right, where you cannot convince yourself you have anything good to give.
URAHARA sympathizes, too. And it’s here to tell you you’re not alone – and that your hard work is worth it.
Earlier this week, Geek Girl Strong inspired a twitter conversation about our favorite angry, female characters. Here are just a few of my personal favorites:
