I never thought much of fashion in the wizarding world until Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them premiered. And, in my defense, I had every right to overlook it. After watching Harry Potter wear the same blue five years in a row, I kind of gave up all hope in that department. (You know, the times he wasn’t required to dress exactly like everyone else.)
But then, we were introduced to a group of witches and wizards from the 1920’s. And everyone looked amazing. So, foot, meet mouth. Everyone else, meet the best dresser in the magical realm: Queenie Goldstein.
The first time any Fantastic Beasts viewer is introduced to Queenie, she’s dressed in this gorgeous pink satin and lace slip that’s just to die for. Her hair is curled softly. And her lips, eyes, and cheeks are perfectly stained. Not only does this look instantly solidify her style icon status, but it also sets us up for the Queenie we’re about to get to know and love. She’s sweet and feminine and warm and approachable.
Also, everything is pink.
Yes, including her coat and hat. And they’re both fabulous. In fact, I think her signature look is one we should all give a shot. How much more fun (and adorable) would bitter winters be if we were all parading through the snow in rose-colored outerwear?
Plus, all of Queenie’s dresses embody the glamour of 1920s fashion. Satin and georgette fabrics, asymmetrical hems, and deep V necklines. If there’s one witch in the wizarding world that loves flapper fashion, it’s Queenie Goldstein.
And, of course, we can’t forget how magical her club look was. (Bad pun fully intended.) The beads. And the fringe. And the signature shade of blush. It’s all so glitzy and elegant and I’d wear it every day if I could.
You can stream Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them on HBO Go right now. And then you can come right back here and drool over Queenie’s wardrobe with me in the comments.
