I’m not contractually obligated to write a post every time Besamé Cosmetics does something awesome. I swear I’m not, even if that would be the dream. I just really, really love them and won’t stop until you do, too.
Besamé is no stranger to the Disney collaboration. From Agent Carter to Snow White, they truly do have something for every make-up loving geek. Plus, it’s nearly impossible to not appreciate that retro flair and the amount of heart and detail that goes into every piece. Their newest Peter Pan-inspired project, the Mermaid Lagoon Collection, is no exception.
The Inspiration
This year marked the 65th anniversary of Peter Pan. 65! Crazy, right?! It only made sense for a company that celebrates vintage beauty above all else to create something amazing for this milestone.
Anyone who has seen the iconic Disney film will surely remember the Neverland mermaids. While they aren’t the most pleasant bunch, they are beautiful, as is their lagoon, and there’s an air of playful enchantment to them both. It didn’t come as much of a surprise that these mermaids in their natural habitat were the muses for Besamé’s new collection. Look at how dreamy and serene that pastel color palette is!
The Final Product
Besamé, surprising nobody, did not disappoint. Their 7-piece collection debuted at the Dapper Day Expo last month and the hype has not died since. The Mermaid Lagoon Collection features three lipsticks, a shadow palette, finishing powder, bronzer, and an inspired fragrance. Everything is soft and feminine with a touch of playfulness, and of course, that gorgeous vintage Besamé flair.
The fragrance option was exciting to see, as it is the first ever Besamé limited edition fragrance. Waterfall Mist is inspired by the waterfall in Mermaid Lagoon, with refreshing and rejuvenating notes of lemon, mint, and rose. Plus, the bottle is insanely gorgeous. The handpainted design was taken directly from the animation archives at Disney. It is little details like this that make the Mermaid Lagoon Collection so incredible.
The Treasures of the Lagoon Shadow Palette impressed me most of all. (Translation: it’s at the very top of my shopping list.) All of the colors and designs came directly from the Ink and Paint cels of Mermaid Lagoon. The names of the colors refer to the original names of the actual paints used by the animators. And, once again, look at that packaging! I will buy anything pink. I will buy anything with mermaids. Just take my money already.
Don’t forget that the holidays are just around the corner. The Mermaid Lagoon Collection would make the perfect gift for the Disney fan in your life. Or even just for yourself. You deserve gifts too!
