Let’s talk Loki.
Or better yet, let’s talk several Lokis.
By now, it’s pretty clear that the notorious Norse god has taken over the internet. The Loki series has been deemed the show of the summer, and I personally can’t say enough good things about it.
As a relative newcomer to the Marvel fandom (read about my journey towards caring about superheroes here), Loki is one of my favorite things the franchise has ever done. The show is bold, it’s weird, and it’s not afraid to take risks.
And the god of mischief himself? Well, he’s an absolute delight.
Tom Hiddleston is perfection in a necktie, and it’s crazy to entertain the possibility of him being upstaged. But in a shocking twist that no one saw coming, Hiddleston’s Loki is outshined by… himself.
In episode five of the series, we’re introduced to all sorts of Loki “variants”—alternate versions of the same character removed from time in order to keep a desired outcome of events. President Loki, Classic Loki, and Boastful Loki are all great in their own right, but these two stole my heart from the moment they came on screen.
He was a gator boy, he said see you later boy
With his 90’s Hi-C juice box, hoodie layered under a t-shirt, and emo skater boy haircut, Kid Loki is truly the ultimate vibe. There’s just something about him that feels so relatable to me.
Maybe it’s because I still feel like a kid trying to figure out the adult world, or maybe I relate to his eighth grade fashion choices. Whatever the reason, I will protect Kid Loki at all costs.
And let’s not forget his scaly best friend, Alligator Loki. He’s not afraid to down a box of wine or chomp on a hand or two out of spite. Honestly? Also relatable.
