Sartorial Geeks, I love Fleabag so much. So much. Words cannot adequately describe how I felt after finishing Season Two (or after watching that scene).

I finished watching Season Two last night and I can’t stop thinking about it. If you’re on the fence about watching it, or haven’t heard of it, here are my top 4 reasons why I think you should binge it immediately:

1. Phoebe Waller-Bridge

Honestly, any project she’s even remotely involved with I’m 100 percent watching (Crashing, Killing Eve, Series 2 of Broadchurch) because she’s a veritable creative genius. Her writing moves me to tears, and her acting is honest, and heartbreaking, and flawless. I’m obsessed with her.

2. Masterful Storytelling

I don’t often love plays, movies, improv theater, etc. that break the fourth wall. I don’t watch these things because I want to be interactive. If I wanted to “participate,” I’d play an organized sport. (Just kidding, I am not athletic in the least.)

Fleabag not only nails dismantling the fourth wall, but does so in a way that’s so thoughtful, necessary, and ultimately tragic (TRAGIC) that the titular character’s story would be missing something crucial without it.

The show also stares down heavy topics like love, loss, grief, and religion and deftly explores them in a way that is humorous, raunchy, and fucking transformative.

3. Andrew Scott

Y’all. This manic cutie plays a sexy priest in Season Two which sounds like something that’s going to get campy and go off the rails but I cannot stress this enough: IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. Andrew Scott was the perfect choice for this role, and brings a character that seems really tricky to play convincingly to life.

There’s a confessional scene (you’ll know it when you see it) that gave me actual full-body chills. I had to pause the show and take a lap. I’m not kidding. I’ll leave it at that.

4. Romance

As much as I love to deny it, I’m a huge romantic at heart. And this story is chock full of romance, but in totally unexpected ways. The end of Season Two was PERFECTION, and absolutely slayed me.

Reader, I cried.

Have you seen Fleabag yet? What did you think?

  1. Betty Rhoades

I just binged Season 1 and loved it! Shockingly dark and dramatic for something billed as a comedy – I likened it to Russian Doll in that aspect. Looking forward to season 2!

    • Totally agree! But also, buckle up because Season Two is going to blow your mind. I don’t say this very often, but I think the writing in Season Two is flawless.
