To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You is the sequel to 2018’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. TATBILB was like a breath of fresh air—like a breath of fresh air with the smell of fresh spring flowers. (Read my full review of TATBILB here!) For a modern day teenage rom-com, the series has an air of innocence about it. With cute aesthetics, charming and charismatic characters, and a soundtrack that I’ve definitely had on repeat, there’s a lot to appreciate. The main story may revolve around Lara Jean’s love life, but at its core, the series celebrates the power of family and friendship.

Anyway, did you hear? Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky are OFFICIALLY a couple! That’s right, for the first time ever Lara Jean is someone’s girlfriend. At the end of TATBILB, Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky confess their very real feelings for each other. LJ’s love life is no longer a fantasy, and she’s officially dating one of the most popular boys in school. And oh boy do LJ & PK go on the cutest dates. Everything is going great! That is, until Lara Jean starts comparing their relationship and all of her firsts with Peter and his history and experience with his ex, Gen, who he just can’t seem to stay away from.

Enter John Ambrose McClaren—the recipient of LJ’s fifth and final love letter. John Ambrose unexpectedly re-enters Lara Jean’s life and she can’t help but wonder, what could have been? Now I’ll be honest here, I didn’t care much for John Ambrose’s character in the books. (Like how dare he try to get in between LJ + PK?!) However, actor Jordan Fisher who plays John Ambrose brought so much charm and personality to his character, he really gives Peter a run for his money.

John Ambrose represents a chance at a fresh start, a relationship without all of the history and past drama associated with LJ and Peter’s relationship. On paper, John Ambrose may actually be perfect for Lara Jean. Ultimately, Lara Jean has to figure out how she feels and who she feels it for. She’ll hurt people and make mistakes along the way, but eventually she’ll figure out how to move forward and get over past hangups.

The To All the Boys series continues to be cute, charming, introspective and ohmygosh I can’t go on without mentioning all of Lara Jeans cute and chic outfits. Her entire wardrobe is to die for. The opening sequence of the film features a series of outfit changes that is basically the heart eyes emoji personified. Basically what I’m saying is, this is a must watch.

To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You released February 12, 2020 and is available to stream on Netflix. #TeamPeter
