Between grad school and a pandemic, I feel like Steve Rogers coming out of the ice: confused and out of touch with the world around me. As society begins taking baby steps towards pre-pandemic normalcy, it’s time I made an effort to rejoin the world. This is the time of year for resolutions and declarations of “New Year New Me!”. Well, I suck at resolutions and positive affirmations, but I am good with a challenge or task to complete. So, I have decided to create a new project for myself with your help!
There are stories we read as children that stick to our bones and help us learn tough lessons that are easier to digest when told through a toy rabbit or a silly old bear. We bury them deep inside of our hearts and often they are forgotten, their origins a distant memory.
We know the lessons, but we tend to forget the friends that taught them to us. They are some of the most reliable things on earth; always true, always constant. A touchstone we can place in our palm to remind us what we’ve always known.
This week’s self care tip is the hardest for Jordan, but so so important:
We’re back with another self care tip, and boy do we need it:
Take a break. Right now. Do it. Walk around the block. Meditate for five minutes. Dance with abandon to your favorite Disney or Lizzo song (or why not both).
Special thanks to our editor + music composer Dan Ison and our executive producer for this episode LoganArch.
This week’s self care tip is maybe the most famous one:
We’re back with a mini tip, and this week we have the first #SGSelfCareTip!
I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) two years ago, although it is a psychological disorder that I have suffered with for my entire life. It often takes the form of indecision (because what if I choose the wrong thing??), an over-sensitivity to the responses and emotions of others, and regular panic attacks in situations with too much stimulation.
This is Lovelace’s final installment in her “women are some kind of magic” series. Each of these books has required me to slow down, reread, and focus on self care.
In my personal life, I am known for two things; baths and Disney. Let’s keep it that way.

Welcome back, Sartorial Geeks! This week, we sat down to chat with Robyn Warren of Geek Girl Strong! If you’ve listened to episode 3 and/or 16, you’re probably familiar with Robyn and her career as a personal trainer and wellness coach. (Or maybe you just recognize her as a Jordandené model!)
Today, we’re talking all things self-care. You’ve heard of it, haven’t you? In fact, you’ve probably scrolled past a myriad of #selfcare posts on your social media feeds. Most showing a glamorized version of the act that involves everything from expensive bubble baths to month-long vacations.
While that’s great for the people who want to go that route, that’s not all self-care is!
