How’s everyone doing? Those of you out there working, thank you so much for keeping the world turning. Those of you at home, hopefully you’re finding ways to use your free time that helps you stay sane.
The first thing that most people think of when they think of geeky crafts is fan art. It’s fun to see what parts of fandoms inspire people. Not all geeky art is specific; sometimes it’s a great new skill to learn or a new way to express yourself. That’s where Chemknits comes in.
In June of 2017 the Wonder Woman movie hit theaters. Geeks were happy. Not long after, the Wonder Woman Wrap designed by Carissa Browning appeared on Ravelry.com. Geek knitters were happy. It quickly became one of the year’s most popular patterns. Like many others, I could not wait to make one.
Looking for something to wear with a Jordandene Robin Hood-themed shirt of the month? Want to show your royal side or just to celebrate this classic Disney movie? The craft section for this month should supply everything you need and then some.
I am a big fan of things that are handmade. As a maker myself, I know how much time, love, and creativity go into something handmade. I love that so many things in my home are handmade by someone, and I love supporting the crafter or maker.
I’m also a fangirl. I obsess over the latest Doctor Who regeneration, cry a little when I miss the opening night of the latest Marvel movie, and count down the days for the next volume of Lumberjanes.
When these two worlds combine, I’m a happy girl.
Which brings me to this series. In this series, I’d like to show off some of the wonderful handmade items and shops that cater to geeky fandoms. Whether you’re into DC or Marvel, video games or graphic novels, there’s something handmade out there for you!
