We’re currently in the middle of Sartorial Geek’s biggest annual fashion challenge—Summer #SGFashionFix—that runs all month long! This is Week 4. So we’re over half-way through, but that doesn’t mean you can’t jump in! In fact, this might be the best week for debuting your geek chic looks because the theme is about the conventions we’re missing this year due to the pandemic, like San Diego Comic Con.
It has been about a month now since Captain Marvel hit theaters, and I have increasingly grown to love this character more and more with each day. Everything from her awkward and witty humor to her very human finesse of always getting back up again. I felt like I easily saw myself in her, which hasn’t really happened with a super hero character on the big screen. Sure, I connect and relate. But there were moments that I felt like Carol WAS me.
When watching Captain Marvel, I had one major thought: I really, really loved how much they used the word “emotional.” Men have been telling women that we are too emotional to, quite frankly, do anything, because as women we are too emotional. Even though, last time I checked, it was men running the world and starting wars just after they threw a tantrum.
It’s only taken ten years, but we finally – finally – have our first Marvel female standalone movie. And, oh, how I loved it! While I was expecting to enjoy it (this is where I admit I might have a slight Marvel bias), I wasn’t prepared for just how much love I would feel for this movie after seeing it. Judging by the global $455 million opening weekend, I wasn’t the only one.
I don’t want to ruin the movie for anyone so non-spoilery review ahead. Unless you haven’t seen any trailers . . .
