For whatever reason, I seem to have missed the boat on romance stories. Whenever my friends in high school were reading Sarah Dessen novels, I was reading Dickens. The closest I ever got to romance was reading Jane Eyre when I was 16, a novel I would later reject due to the problematic, abusive relationship between Jane and Rochester.
I read One of Us is Lying quite some time ago, and while I not-so-patiently wait on the sequel to come out (One of Us is Next is expected in early 2020), I picked up Two Can Keep a Secret. I loved the well-crafted mystery of One of Us is Lying, so seeing Two Can Keep a Secret while at Barnes & Noble felt like a sign.
I’m always down to listen to what the book shelves suggest.
The “Women of the World” book for April is one that I’ve been saving. When I started this project, I knew that Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood and Bone would have to be one of my novels. And so, as a sort of “save dessert for last” exercise, I attempted to wait to read Children of Blood and Bone until further into the year. Obviously, I didn’t make it very far.
