Happy New Year, geeky lovelies!

As promised we’re back with the Sartorial Geek of the Week. We are so excited to ring in the new year by getting back to showcasing all of your creativity, passion, and fandom-fueled brilliance!

We’ve got a lot of incredible geeks to introduce you this year. Starting with the first Sartorial Geek of the Week of 2021: Joyce Cheung, or as she’s known online, Joyceylon Tea!

Sartorial Geek of the Week: Joyceylon Tea

A Chinese-Canadian photographer and Potterhead, Joyce brings her vivid Ravenclaw imagination and her vibrant personality and bold creativity to everything she does. Namely, the communities she established on Instagram. The co-creator of Queerditch March, a member of the Masterful Magical Minorities, and a founding member of the Subtle Asian Potterheads, inclusivity and representation form the cornerstone of all of her creations.

Of Queerditch March, Joyce says she and her best friend (and Gryffindor) Steph founded the organization to celebrate “Wizarding World intersectionality” during pride month. That wasn’t the only inspiration for the LGBTQIA2S+ community though. Queerditch March partially came about as a response to J.K. Rowling’s harmful TERF comments. Queerditch March has become an unceasingly magical and inspiring space for all Hogwarts students, past and present in the queer community. (They even had the honor of starring in one of Muggle Net’s famous Instagram takovers November 1, 2020!)

And if you thought that was all there was to Joyce, you’d be wrong. In the muggle world Joyce fights to end homelessness in her home city of Vancouver and has raised thousands of dollars for British Columbia’s Children’s Hospital, Surrey Food Bank, and literacy programs at local elementary schools.

Known for her dazzling Ravenclaw and Beauxbatons cosplays (as well as the “Pass The Wand” video she made in collaboration with the #subtleasianpotterheads community) Joyce has one of the most enchanting aesthetics in the Pottergram community.

With the digital wizardry of photoshop and her fantastical imagination, Joyce has carved out her own magical corner of the internet where she shares the dreamy, otherworldly, world of Beauxbatons Academy of Magic.

So let’s meet the remarkable Ravenclaw and this week’s Sartorial Geek: Joyceylon Tea!
