Sartorial Geek Fashion Fix: Spring Challenge

Hello there, awesome nerds! We hope this post finds you safe and well.

It goes without saying that the world we live in feels very much like an episode of Black Mirror. Many of us have fallen on hard times due to current events, and we’re all doing our best to get by. To boost morale, we thought it’d be fun to have a Spring Fashion Fix Challenge!  

Once again, Nina and Alice return as your geek chic co-hosts with a week full of super chill, fashionable prompts. The Spring #SGFashionFix will take place from April 20 to April 26. 

Monday: Morning Cuppa

Has it been awhile since you’ve put an actual outfit together? It’s okay — same here! So let’s kick things off simple by showing us your morning cuppa tea or coffee. Got a fun fandom mug or one that you simply love just because? And no worries if you’re not a tea or coffee drinker! You can share your cuppa whatever you’re drinking. 

Tuesday: PJ Party

A majority of us have been rocking pjs in the daytime, free of judgement. Do you have a special pair of daytime jammies? A favorite onesie? Show off your best slumber ensembles or loungewear!

Wednesday: Cover to Closet

We’re taking a page from the ladies of Cover To Closet for this prompt. Put together a look inspired by the cover of one of your favorite books, or what you’re currently reading. It can be a flatlay or a good old fashioned OOTD post.

Thursday: Dream Job

You know that saying “dress for the job you want”? That’s what we want to see here. And feel free to go wild with your imagination! Do you want to be something outrageous like a fairy princess? Badass superhero? Flower maiden AND Queen of the Underworld? A Jedi Knight? A Sith even? 

For inspo, author Mackenzi Lee, a fave here at Sartorial Geek, put together this dream job look of “the role of a noblewoman Monty gets naked with and then abandons at Versailles in a very anachronistic Gent’s Guide movie adaptation.”

Friday: Solitaire

Have you taken up knitting, needlepoint, or playing video games to pass time? Show us what activity you’ve been enjoying to get through social distancing.

Saturday: Cooped Up Cosplay

We’re so inspired by Meli’s #CoopedUpCosplay posts on Instagram, that we wanted to have a day dedicated to it! Simply take what’s in your closet and come up with a fun cosplay based on any of your favorite characters. 

Sunday: Apocalypse/Dystopian Ensemble

Since it feels like we’re living in the middle of a YA dystopian novel, we felt it’s only appropriate to close out this challenge with this prompt. We’d love to see your interpretation on what you think you’d wear during the apocalypse. Or take a cue from characters in dystopian or apocalypse franchises like Mad Max, The Hunger Games, Shaun of the Dead, or Legend by Marie Lu to name a few.
