Welcome back to Harlem! This first episode of season 2 serves mostly to introduce and re-introduce all of Luke Cage’s players, so pull up a bar stool at Harlem’s Paradise, and let’s check in on everyone. Sweet Christmas, there are a lot of characters!
Man, I missed this show! And as a reader and fan of the comic books, I have been anxiously awaiting the trip to Angelville, where Jesse’s family tree has its dysfunctional roots. In the premiere of season 3, we dive right into those roots with a black and white flashback…
Even on a network that brought us Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, AMC’s Preacher is… different.
Honestly, how to even describe it? Based on the comic books by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, Preacher follows former-criminal-now-man-of-the-cloth Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), badass beeyotch Tulip (Ruth Negga), and Irish vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) on their quest to find God, who has been missing since Season 1.
Like the comics, the show has graphic violence, all manner of sexual fetishes, and, of course, more religious confusion than you can shake a stick at. Will our band of “heroes” (I’m using that term VERY loosely, as none of the main characters are heroic in any traditional sense) find answers in Season 3? Let’s remember where we left off and ponder where things may go from here… Spoilers ahead!
The last time many of us saw Luke Cage, he was teaming up with Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and Iron Fist to fight The Hand in The Defenders. But what about Season 1 of Luke’s standalone story (well, as standalone as a story can ever be in the Marvel Universe)? Here are some things to keep in mind before your binge starts on June 22…
Caution! Spoilers for Younger (season 5, episodes 1 and 2) ahead!
The most recent season of Younger totally delivered in terms of fashion. And we’re only two episodes in. Not only are the leading ladies KILLING IT, as usual – I mean, come on, we’ve already had fur coats, all kinds of bold colors, hats galore, and one VERY substantial and amazing bangle… But the men are also giving us their best in terms of suiting as well. I suppose it’s a given that a Darren Star-helmed show would make such audacious sartorial statements.
It all started because of David Tennant.
Doesn’t it always? I had never been to any kind of comic convention before. But when I saw that the Tenth Doctor himself would be appearing at my local con (Awesome Con!!!) back in 2017, I knew I had to get tickets. I bought the full weekend David Tennant VIP pass. This would guarantee a photo and autograph. AND I’d get preferred seating at his main stage panel. To be honest, in the beginning, I figured I’d probably ONLY do DT-related stuff. And that I’d be perfectly happy with my con experience.
They’re Younger…but are they wiser?
Woohoo, Younger is coming back on June 5! If you haven’t yet tuned into this flirty, fashionable tale of pretty publishing people, there’s still time to get your binge on. If you’re all caught up but just need a refresher, here’s what you need to know before diving into Season 5 (Season 4 spoilers ahead):
I love meeting fellow geeks and learning about all of the fun and unique ways they show off their fandoms. For some people it’s tee shirts (I definitely have an addiction), for others it’s enamel pins, and still others collect Funkos or posters or other memorabilia. But some folks – myself included – like to permanently display our favorite pop culture goodies. That’s right – I love me a geeky tattoo. Well, actually, I love tattoos in general, but I wanted to share some advice from my two most recent tattoos, which happen to be fandom inspired.
