We’re huge fans of Che Grayson around here and have been so excited to see this project come to life. Che is making her writer/directer debut with Magic Hour, and her latest Kickstarter campaign is full of incredible rewards around this project.

Magic Hour is a TV anthology series that features magical and mystifying stories with Queer & POC folks at the center. The show explores identity through the lens of fantasy, science-fiction and horror.

Kickstarter Campaigns to Watch: Magic Hour

Similar to Black Mirror or The Twilight Zone, each episode will be its own contained story with a beginning, middle and end. The thing that connects all of the episodes together is the occurrence of “magic hour,” a time of day when everything looks freaking gorgeous or, in the show’s case, a time when parallel dimensions and realities overlap and collide with each other to create remarkable stories that stretch the imagination and shock the senses. When the magic hour begins that’s when the real fun starts. Each episode will explore themes like love, belonging, humanity and sacrifice. Stories that will keep you up at night, will make you think, or just creep you the hell out. Tales of robots exploring the gender binary, girls curing addictions, bigots turning into animals and femmes giving birth to celestial beings (to name a few).

The pilot episode, Soul-Search starring Indya Moore (POSE) is a retelling of Frankenstein with a modern twist; telling this classic story through the perspective of the “monster.”
