I’ve had this book sitting in my TBR for over a year at this point, and I’m glad I finally got to it! With my 2020 goal of reading all of the unread books I own, it has been important for me to work through both fun books and books with more depth. While this one has some depth to it, it’s still a fun read!
In Another Time by Caroline Leech takes place in Scotland, 1942. It follows Maisie, a 17 year old woman who wants to do her part for war efforts. She leaves school to join the WTC: the Women’s Timber Corps. There, she learns how to be a lumberjill and begins chopping down trees to help with the war.
While at a dance one night, Maisie meets a very nice and handsome lumberjack that she really gets along with. Soon, they find that they’re on assignment at neighboring camps, and things start to move forward between them.
I don’t want to go too deep into the story because I think this is a fantastic read that you should definitely pick up! While I haven’t seen much hype about it, even when it came out, it’s a really unique story. I don’t think I’ve read anything with this setting, and it’s incredible! Seeing strong as heck women working to do their part, while still being a captivating YA novel, is so rad.
This book was a fantastic escape and such a good read. I highly recommend you check it out because it will be so different from most of your TBR! What are you reading next?
