I have a lot to say about This is Us. Some of it is good (Sterling K. Brown, obviously), some not so good (Kate’s story arc… sigh.) But Beth Pearson and her precious little family have been the one thing that’s consistently good to me.

There is so much to love about Beth Pearson. She is the definition of a “mama bear” in its purest form. She’s straightforward and compassionate and knows how to keep the people in her life, namely her husband, sensible and grounded. Beth is arguably the unsung hero of This Is Us and the complex female character of color we deserved.

And obviously, to top it all off, she has an incredible sense of style, so let’s break it down.

Simple and Chic

Style Icon: Beth Pearson

Sure, there’s a lot to be said about the 70’s fashion Mandy Moore rocks as Rebecca Pearson, but there’s nothing I love more than Beth’s cool, sleek, modern style. There was a lot to be bummed out about in the Superbowl episode last season, but this incredible turtleneck she rocked was not one of those things. She took the “cold shoulder” trend to the next level, pun fully intended.

Fabulous Sleepwear

Style Icon: Beth Pearson

There’s something about a good collection of sleepwear that really steps up an entire wardrobe. Sure, pajamas are supposed to put comfort first, but imagine having that comfort AND looking like a total queen like Beth Pearson does here. If I could spend the rest of my life in this robe, I totally would.

The Best Hair, Period.

Style Icon: Beth Pearson

Beth is constantly changing up and experimenting with her hair and it’s so fun to see every week. What I love even more, though, was the actress, Susan Kelechi Watson, mentioned that her hairstyles are all her own, and her “shout-out to black women”:

“And it’s my shout-out to black women, because for so long we’ve been told we have to look a certain way, or our hair has to be a certain way just to even be accepted or as a part of what is considered to be the American standard of beauty. But you know for all this, we just have a different texture hair, and there are beautiful things we could do with our hair, you know?”

Keep being the best, Beth Pearson, because you’re really the only reason I’m still watching This Is Us.
