I think I’ve always wanted to be Buttercup from the Powerpuff Girls. She’s badass, strong, and looks great in green. When I saw that PeriPera sold Powerpuff Girl makeup on Amazon, I jumped at the possibility of becoming a bit more like that tough gal. Since PeriPera is a company from outside of the United States, it took a bit longer than Amazon Prime’s usual 2-day window to get my lipstick, but once it was in my hands, I was in love.

This lipstick really pushes the envelope, much like my girl, Buttercup.

Not only is she on the packaging, but it’s a bright, red-orange, that packs a heck of a punch. It lasts well, especially when you remember that it’s a matte liquid lipstick. I find that there is no middle ground with matte liquid lipsticks; you either get stellar ones, or garbage ones. This was the former, and I’m really glad. PeriPera did a great job with finding that perfect formula.

Regrettably, Peripera is not a brand that discloses whether or not they are cruelty free. This is relatively common with cosmetic brands from many Eastern countries, because some countries (like China) require that a product be tested on animals before hitting the shelves. However, this year, the Korean National Assembly has passed a bill that bans Korean companies from testing on animals. I am so excited about that, because while Clio (PeriPera’s parent brand) hasn’t been clear on their status, it’s now legally required for them to not test on animals.

If you’re really looking to go the extra mile, there’s a whole line of Powerpuff Girl products from Peripera.

There’s tint water, powder, matte sticks, and even hand cream! The products are available In Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, but the colors are more based on the characters themselves than the costumes. Blossom tends to lean towards a basic red, Bubbles a lighter peach, and Buttercup brings it home with the red-orange. They’re all great shades, but I’m not branching out from the Buttercup.

I think this truly is a fantastic lipstick. It dries in a lovely matte that doesn’t transfer too much. It’s also a unique red in my collection (which is hard to do, when you have over 20 red lipsticks). I love this lipstick, and I would definitely repurchase it! Regrettably, I’m struggling to find them available on Amazon, but Peripera’s website lists them as coming soon; maybe we can look forward to them shipping over here.
