The show floor at Leaky Con was a bit sparse, but those who were there pulled out all of the stops. There was a fantastic wand maker, folks who made hats and shirts, and a couple booths focused on beauty products. I found that my favorite was Soap Pretty, a vegan bathing company with soaps that went on for ages. Everything was wonderfully themed, and I spent (probably) way too much money. But I think it was worth it, and I’d like to share my three favorites from SoapPretty!
Slytherin Soap
As a loyal Slytherin, it’s difficult for me not to purchase every Slytherin themed Item on the planet. I have a good sized Slytherin collection, but this soap takes the cake. It smells warm and slightly spicy, full of teak wood, cardamon, and activated charcoal. I find that it makes my skin insanely soft, without overpowering my nose.
And for all of you Severus Snape fans out there, it comes with Always carved into it.
Fawkes Body Scrub
This citrus body scrub is perfect for the rapidly approaching summer! Not only is it a sweet, citrus scent, but it helps exfoliate (while also hydrating) your skin. I’ve really been loving this because the heat makes me less likely to put on lotion, but I still need that hydration. I really enjoy this, and will definitely be ordering more.
Butterbeer Lip Balm
Now, nothing against the ladies of SoapPretty, but I don’t like pats of lip balm like this. I worry about germs, because you have to use your hands to apply it. But, I have found that I can use it immediately after a shower, and feel less squeamish. The scent is incredible, the texture is lovely, and I am ready for a trip to Hogsmeade once this is on.
I love bath and beauty products; I think they’re a very functional way to show your fandom a bit of love. I absolutely adore these SoapPretty pieces, and I will be ordering from them when I run out. I’ve linked to their Etsy shop here, and while you may worry about shipping costs, they aren’t as astronomical as I anticipated. So go forth and bathe, geeks!
What are some of your favorite Harry Potter beauty products, or geeky bath and beauty products in general?
