As a genderfluid person, getting dressed is the biggest hassle out there. While I’ll occasionally want to dress up in magnificent dresses like Blair Waldorf, sometimes I’ll want to be so masculine, but I never know quite how. Or at least, I used to not know how.
While no show is perfect in its representation, Shadowhunters often felt like it was pretty close to perfection. And in some ways (to me, personally) it was.
Before you try to guess the reason: no, it’s not because he’s hot. I mean, he is, but it has nothing to do with that. Bucky Barnes being attractive is just the cherry on top of the magnificent Bucky Barnes. And don’t worry, this article will be completely spoiler free. If you haven’t seen Endgame yet though, you should.
Leslie Knope is one of my favourite women on television, for some of the most obvious reasons. She is happy, energetic, fun, good-spirited, hard-working, loving, kind, and most importantly, she always goes for what she wants. As one of the many women on television that I love, I made it my mission to constantly use her as an inspiration for the kind of person I want to be. That doesn’t mean I need to be exactly like her, but she is someone I admire, and I wanted to share some of those with all of you!
Isabelle Lightwood
Isabelle Lightwood, played by Emeraude Toubia, is one of my favourite female characters on television right now. Not only is she played so wonderfully by Emeraude, but she is a character that I think many women have been waiting for, for a very long time. She is a woman completely comfortable in her sexuality, and has no problem showing it off, while remaining not only a wonderful warrior, but one of the smartest women (if not, the smartest) in the Shadowhunting world. Her favorite past time? Uplifting other women.
Though she has her faults, Blair Waldorf resonates with me deeply. It is my life goal to be like her in many ways. Sure, I want to make sure I am nicer and less classist, but there are so many things about her that I have always appreciated. Luckily, I am on my way to perfecting it. Here’s how:
When watching Captain Marvel, I had one major thought: I really, really loved how much they used the word “emotional.” Men have been telling women that we are too emotional to, quite frankly, do anything, because as women we are too emotional. Even though, last time I checked, it was men running the world and starting wars just after they threw a tantrum.
The Secret History
by Donna Tartt
If you like Greek myths, Latin, and death, then this book is for you. This group of friends makes the attempt to try and understand the gods. They believe themselves to even be gods. Mortality is for the weak in this novel.
Fans have been waiting with bated breath for the return of the final episodes of Shadowhunters. Now that the team is back, they are ready to make their mark on television one last time. The episode started off with an amazing fight sequence. It was then filled with emotional tributes to Clary, love, and brotherhood, and ended with, of course, a cliffhanger.
