This week’s #5FandomFriday is a shoutout to online communities, my actual favorite thing in this world.

Geek Girl Strong’s Patreon

Geek Girl Strong always has a motivational online community going, and right now that’s happening on Patreon. There are resources, check-ins, polls, and lots of cool nerds to befriend. If you’re trying to get healthy this year, I highly recommend hanging out here!

Webtoon

I feel like such a dummy for not diving into Webtoons sooner. I’ve known about it for quite a while, but I didn’t realize just how great it is until like three days ago. As someone who always has her phone on her and wants to read more comics, this app is is truly perfect. The comics are formatted for mobile which makes them super easy to read. And it’s a great place to be introduced to new authors, new artists, and new comic-reading friends!

She Podcasts

As a female podcaster, She Podcasts is exactly the community I was hoping for. Their facebook group is full of advice, updates, podcasting news, and events. Sometimes remote projects like podcasting can make you feel alone, and having an online group like She Podcasts is a wonderful antidote!

Goodreads

Every book fan I know talks about Goodreads, and I’m starting to understand why. It’s so much more than just a list of books — you can give recommendations to friends, see what people you trust are reading, leave or read reviews, and participate in challenges. You can be as social and interactive as you want. And, like everything else on this list, it’s free!

The Sartorial Geek

Is it cheating to name ourselves? Maybe, but we make the rules so I’m doing it anyway. It’s not a lie; The Sartorial Geek is my absolute favorite online community. I love reading these comments. I love our special online hangout. I love our Instagram and Twitter. I love our Patreon. I love you all.

What are your favorite online hangouts? Let’s chat in the comments!
