In case you missed it, we partnered with Super Space Chick and The Nerdy Girlie to bring back 5 Fandom Friday! #5FandomFriday started as a blogging prompt that has evolved into a weekly excuse to talk about nerdy things wherever you want (whether that’s a YouTube video, Instagram story, or an entire blog post). For our first topic of the year, we’re chatting fandom resolutions for 2020. Here are mine:

1. Read 50 Books

If you’ve been hanging around for a while, you know that reading isn’t currently my specialty. Which is a real bummer because I want to support all of the cool authors I get to met and be a part of the conversation happening around book culture. SO, I re-activated my goodreads account and set myself a goal of 50 books for 2020. But there are some rules. I would like 15-20 to be physical books. The rest can be graphic novels (my favorite) and audio books (I am very into Libro.fm thanks to a recommendation from the lovely Mackenzi Lee!). We’ll see how this goes!

2. Go to Fewer Cons

This may seem like the opposite of a fandom resolution, but it’s really necessary for 2020. I’ve been traveling like crazy for the past few years setting up comic con booths all over the country, and I for sure need a break. Both financially and for self care reasons, this is 100% the right decision for me this year. So, while I’ll be sad to see a little less of some of you in person this year, I’m so thankful for all the places we can hang out online!

3. Get Better at Gaming

This has been on my personal wish list for a while now, and I’ve decided to be serious about it in 2020. I love games, and I am very very bad at most video consoles. BUT through the tips and recommendations of gaming friends, I’ve realized that I have options. 1. I can play games on easy mode. 2. I can play games that fall within my skillset that are still very fun, like Stardew Valley and Mario Party and Telltale Games. Wish me luck!

4. Grow The Sartorial Geek Podcast Listeners

I love our podcast. I’m so proud of how many episodes we’ve been able to release. I am honored that so many incredible people have taken time to have conversations with me over the past two years. I appreciate Liz and Dan for all the work they’ve done making this an incredible project. Now, we really need to grow our listener base.

If you haven’t checked out our podcast yet and think you might be interested, please do! If you’ve listened in the past and have suggestions for ways we can improve over this coming year, please let me know. If you have a friend who might enjoy our geeky conversations, please tell them. If you haven’t checked out our Patreon rewards yet, that’s how we keep the lights on over here. Even though this resolution is #4, it’s probably my top priority for 2020.

5. Host More Game Nights

Like I said, I love games. Cozying up on the couch or at a giant table with friends and snacks and drinks may be my actual favorite activity. And, sadly for me, I haven’t done much of that lately. Other than our weekly DnD sessions, which have kept me sane over the past two years. SO, look out friends! 2020 is the year I host more game nights than I know what to do with, and I am the most excited about it.

What about you? What are your Fandom Resolutions for 2020? Link to your blog posts in the comments, use the hashtag #5FandomFriday on social so we can connect, or join our online hangout. And if you want to participate weekly with us, please do!
