So, this week’s Thursday Movie Picks is a challenge.
I don’t know how else to say this, but I’m bad at music. It’s not a great quality, and one of my 2020 goals is to change that. I don’t know why my brain is like this, but I have a really hard time paying attention to notes and lyrics and all the things that make up film scores. Which makes coming up with a list of unforgettable ones super super hard. Let’s see how I do.
The Dark Knight
The only film score I’ve ever noticed is The Dark Knight, which means it’s really something. And I’m not the only one to think so. Composed by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard, it won the Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media. It’s wonderfully eerie, especially where the Joker is involved. If you want to give it a listen yourself, you can on Spotify!
Guardians of the Galaxy
This is a soundtrack and not a film score, but like I said I literally only know one of those. I’ve listened to “Awesome Mix Vol. One” so, so many times. And Vol. Two for that matter. It’s wonderfully nostalgic to the ’80s, and it reminds me of dancing baby Groot. What more could you want?
Into the Spider-Verse
There’s been a growing trend of superhero movies featuring awesome music, and I cannot stop listening to the soundtrack for Into the Spider-Verse. From “What’s Up, Danger” to “Sunflower,” I cannot get enough. I’ve listened to it at the gym, during solo dance parties, and in the background while playing D&D. I can’t wait for the sequel and (hopefully) more sweet tunes!
