I don’t know about other geeks, but my favorite thing to do when I’m sad is binge a stand-up comedy special on Netflix. In case you’re like me and are always looking for new recommendations while you self-isolate, here’s a list of my go-tos (with some newer additions!) All of these are available on Netflix unless otherwise specified.
1. Momentum – Mo Gilligan
Mo is absolutely hilarious, and the original music played by a live band is a perfectly unique and wonderful aspect of his show. I love this show; it’s my number one sad day show.
2. Glitter Room – Katherine Ryan
Katherine’s ultra-feminist comedy is amazing, and she’s absolutely beyond hilarious. She’s super relatable, and I love seeing a woman own her sexuality like Katherine does.
3. Kid Gorgeous – John Mulaney
I think everyone loves John Mulaney, which makes his special the perfect recommendation for a list like this. He has huge a rewatch-ability factor and is the best creator of reaction images ever.
4. Quarter-Life Crisis – Taylor Tomlinson
This show is a pretty new addition to Netflix, and Taylor is so funny. Her jokes are very well-written, and her delivery is absolutely wonderful. I’m very glad to have this show added to my Netflix list.
5. Repertoire – James Acaster
This series of shows is a great thing to watch on a bad day. James’ humor is beyond absurd, and he’s so unique. His jokes land so well, and his football chant WILL get stuck in your head. You’re welcome.
6. Blood Sugar – Ed Gamble
This special, which is currently available on amazon prime, is super funny. Ed is a diabetic, and despite that affecting only a small portion of the population, he comes across as incredibly relatable. I highly recommend this one if you’ve got Prime.
