We’re back with another Sartorial Geek of the Week!

Alter Ego: I’m not sure if it counts as an Alter Ego, but I do go by the name Ping-Ping. It was given to me as a wee lass and I answer to it as my own good name. It also has turned into nicknames upon itself like: Pingy, Ping-a-Ling, Pingster, Ping. So it came as no surprise that when Mulan came out and her warrior name was Ping that I wound up embracing my nickname even more.

Top Fandom: Disney. Hands down. I grew up in San Diego county so Disneyland was just an hour drive up. It was an annual family trip until they started offering the Annual Passes. Then it was every other weekend. Or whenever the mood strikes. My best friends all have passes. I met my husband at a concert in Solana Beach and the next day we were both going to a Kimbra concert in Orange County and when we talked about what we would be doing before the show, we both said we were going to Disneyland. Who goes to Disneyland with a person they had just met the night before? That’s what Disney Magic does. Bring people together. We had our first date at Disneyland. We had our honeymoon at Disney World. 99.9% our little one was made during said Disney World Honeymoon. So to say Disney has had a profound influence on my life would be a mild understatement.

Last Read: The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith the whole leaving a little to chance and the thought that love will find you when you absolutely least expect it sings to the very heart of me. It’s totally true. It’s how my husband and I found each other. And I’ve given that exact advice to friends and family looking  for love. I just tell them to just let it be. And it’ll happen for you when you’re not even looking for it.

Fictional Style Icon: I guess if I had to give my style any credit it would probably go to Vanellope von Schweetz from Wreck-It Ralph and Ralph Breaks the Internet. It’s bright, playful, and comfortable. I’ve cosplayed as her a couple times now. Otherwise, I hardly have any “grown up” clothes in my closet. They’re all borderline Disneybound dresses and Pop Culture punny shirts.

Favorite Comfort Film: Oh, I’d have to say Steel Magnolias. Watching it when I was younger, it was just a bunch of Southern ladies having fun at the salon. It’s got such a great cast. And it was funny because it’s one of the movies my older brother and quote lines from all the time. But watching it as an adult there’s so many things I’ve caught on to and learned to love even more about the film and about the way women can be portrayed as delicate flowers but can also be the most powerful and strong when it comes to life changing and altering moments.

Hogwarts House: I’m a Slytherin. I apparently have a cunning and charismatic way I carry myself sometimes. I’m a good person. I just have hints of mischief from time to time.

First Fictional Crush: Do anime characters count? Because if they do, Darien from Sailor Moon..with the original voice. Something about a guy with that side part calling you Meatball Head and scoffing. But then find out he’s your one true love. My cousin cried so hard when I had her watch the VHS of Secret Identities when he sacrificed himself to save Serena..admit it. You did too. That song just gets me every time.
