Have you ever found yourself wishing that you could be one with the Force in your everyday life?
Well, you can—with a bit of imagination, of course. They range from subtle to bold, but all the methods have been tried, tested, and approved by fellow fanatics Jedi Masters.
Here are some creative ways, both free and using quality purchases, to use the Force in your life, whether you’re on the light or dark side!
1. Open automatic doors
This one is the most obvious—just stick out your hands, time it just right, and have someone recording you using the Force to open automatic doors (whether they open sideways or swing open like the ones at Target.
Just ensure that you’re doing this when no one else is near the doors, or else they’ll interfere with your newfound Force powers.
The result is bloody brilliant.
(Sidenote: Who said that TikTok isn’t educational? I learned [and copied] this one earlier this year)
2. Buy a lightsaber, duh
A legitimate, fully-functioning, non-plastic lightsaber is the best investment you will ever make for yourself if you’ve pledged yourself to the Rebellion (or the First Order). Learn a few saber spinning tricks from Michelle Smith’s YouTube channel and you’ll be well on your way to rival Obi-Wan in his saber fighting skills.
Find some of the best lightsabers in the galaxy at Rebel Sabers here.
If you really want to kick it up a notch, hike with your lightsaber as well. No one will ever mess with you if you carry the full blade and hilt in your forest walks!
3. Wear a mask like Darth Vader and Kylo Ren (and stay far, far away)
In the age of social distancing, it’s essential to wear face masks as much as possible when going out. Vader and Kylo were doing this far before it was even a mandated thing, so when in doubt, just follow their examples.
You can even craft your own Kylo face mask—check out Instagram user @russellfung‘s DIY project below.
And always remember to stay far, far away from each other.
4. Go to the beach and insult the sand
If you really want to be one with the Force, dress in Jedi robes, head to your nearest beach, and pick up some sand, reciting Anakin’s sad lines, “I don’t like sand. It’s coarse, and rough, and irritating, and it gets everywhere.”
Then, you’ll know that you’ve truly made him proud.
5. Take up cosplay
Quite possibly one of the most effective ways to work the Force into your everyday life is by taking up cosplay as a hobby.
Before you exclaim, “But I don’t have the budget,” think again. Most cosplayers effectively employ a magical technique called thrift shopping that allows them to assemble loads of variations of costumes with cheap fabrics and items.
If you’re not talented in the sewing world (hiya, join the club), you can always entrust eBay with some cheap, pretty decent Star Wars costumes that will satisfy your inner geek just fine.
6. Cook and bake all the Star Wars-themed things
Another easy way to stay connected with the Force at all times is to use your powers for cooking and baking the most delectable geeky treats, like Monica from Popcorner Reviews.
Take a look at some of her awe-inspiring, drool-worthy Star Wars creations below:
For full inspo of Monica’s incredible Star Wars appetizers, drinks, desserts, and more, read her article here.
And if you’re a disaster in the kitchen like me, Pinterest yields plenty of results for incredible no-bake Star Wars treats as well, like these adorable Baby Yoda cookies.
7. Cook with proper Star Wars attire
To cook with the Force, one must also dress with the Force. You can’t be fashionably ignorant in the galaxy, after all!
You can always cook with this electronic Chewbacca mask that proudly roars when you open your mouth. Or, wear this amazing R2-D2 apron from Jordandene’s shop when baking.
8. Deck out your car as the Millennium Falcon
The majority of us spend more time in our cars than our actual home. So, why not deck it out as lavish as the Falcon?
Give your seatbelt cover some geek flair, like this adorable Ewok cover from Chic and GeeksChic and Geeks on Etsy. Hang Han’s lucky dice from your mirror, like this replica from Spade Archer Leather on Etsy.
Protect your car from the sun with this badass sunshade cover from Unique Gifts by Maria on Etsy. Or, if you’re really dedicated, slap these TIE fighter car decals somewhere on your car, via The Patterns Factory on Etsy.
9. Stay cozy in Star Wars socks
Any Jedi Master needs to stay warm from head to toe! With winter swiftly approaching, invest in some adorable Star Wars socks like these floppy-eared Yoda ones from Sassy LaRue Boutique on Etsy.
10. Use a lightsaber umbrella
Who knew that you could even use the Force while strolling in the rain? This LED lightsaber umbrella has seven different color options and has rave reviews on Amazon.
Highly worth the $30 just to feel like a Jedi Master while singin’ in the rain.
11. Adorn your kitchen with things that would make Vader proud
Your kitchen needs to be fully one with the Force if you are, too. Why not chop veggies and meat with this epic cutting board?
Or, use Star Wars-themed charms to differentiate everyone’s wine glass. Ensure that your Force-wielding hands are protected from shooting out accidental Force lightning by using these adorable potholders when handling hot kitchenware.
And finally, this laser-engraved whiskey set and matching wooden coasters are sure to be your finest items to showcase when creating your own version of the Mos Eisley Cantina in your kitchen.
12. Eat with these light-up lightsaber chopsticks
May the Force be with . . . your food. Admit it, these LED light-up lightsaber chopsticks are exactly what you’ve been looking for.
We won’t guarantee that a lightsaber duel won’t break out at dinnertime, but these are highly necessary items for every Jedi—especially if one is used to consuming copious amounts of noodles on a daily basis (*blushes sheepishly*).
13. Add Star Wars stickers to EVERYTHING
You can never have enough Star Wars stickers. Stick them on your walls, electronics, furniture, dog, baby . . . and remember, you can always use more.
Check out this grand collection of stickers you can order from The Mousierge on Etsy.
14. Travel with a Star Wars backpack
Because all the cool kids do it! I found this portable one for the equivalent of $10 while in Tokyo last year, and it’s come with me on all my trips ever since.
15. Sleep with this Millennium Falcon light
Did you know that they sell LED illusion lights in the shape of Star Wars characters and things, like the Millennium Falcon? Talk about the coolest nightlight in the galaxy.
Check out this Millennium Falcon light from Filmcells on Etsy.
16. Incorporate Star Wars quotes, puns, and jokes into your daily conversations
Go hard or go home—when it comes to the Force, you want to go all out. Do or do not, there is no try.
Here’s some inspiration from Geek Trippers to get you started in your punny ways.
17. Join a community of fellow Jedis and Padawans
There’s no better way to flaunt your geek pride than to join an incredible “bicoastal coven of Star Wars fans,” like Galactic Coven on Instagram.
In August, the coven ran a successful Galactic Coven Celebration in honor of Star Wars Celebration having to go virtual this year. They even hosted a Canto Bight Night Out, in which everyone posted photos of their celestial creations from the cozy comforts of home.
18. Flaunt Star Wars attire around everywhere you go
As our very own Jordandene has done with her brand, embrace and flaunt your “fandom in everyday fashion!” Not only will you feel more confident and empowered, but you’ll most likely meet some new Force-friendly pals who understand your shirt’s true meaning, as well.
Take a look at some of the incredibly amazing apparel that Jordandene designs and ships worldwide (accessories, bags, pins, masks, and much more is also sold through her shop!).
After all, only the most dedicated geeks truly understand each other, right?
19. Assemble an army at your workspace
It goes without saying that you should display your loyalty to the Rebellion or First Order by assembling a small army at your workstation.
Check out this mini knockoff LEGO set from EZ Brick Idea on Etsy.
20. Use the power of Photoshop
Yeah, this one might be cheating a bit, but “a little Photoshop never hurt nobody.” Besides, we all want to be on our best geek game for the ‘Gram, right?
Carry on and prosper!
