To be completely honest, the original run of Dynasty was way before my time. So far behind, in fact, that when The CW decided to reboot the series last year, I had no idea it was a remake. What I did know before that, however, was that Fallon Carrington, played perfectly by Elizabeth Gillies, was the queen of all queens.
Fallon Carrington is one of those characters you know is bad news, no matter which run of Dynasty you’re watching. She is s a troublemaker on all fronts. She’s feisty, overprivileged, and manipulative… so why is it that I still root for her? I mean, she is also incredibly intelligent, business-savvy, and ambitious. Maybe there’s a bit of fellow Slytherin bias here, but from what I’ve watched so far, it seems like everyone else is just as bad. So, if I can’t hope for the best for the main protagonist of a show, what’s the point?
Plus, while her looks on the original Dynasty are all painfully dated, modern-day Fallon Carrington is totally worthy of style icon status.
Fallon is never not serving a look that kills. Sometimes, in more ways than one. A peek into her walk-in closet that’s definitely the size of my entire apartment will show you…
Always sleek, always polished.
Everything about Fallon’s look is sleek and perfectly tailored to her. Of course, it comes as no surprise: it’s the go-to look of any big-businesswoman. She never lets that hold her back, though, which I love. She often plays with colors and fun silhouettes and structures, such as the black and white number pictured above that she wore to her father’s engagement party. This was very early on in the first season and all I could do was sit in front of the TV and scream, “LOOK AT HOW AMAZING SHE LOOKS IN THAT DRESS!”
Flaunting designer labels
Having a great sense of style and always wearing designer labels are in no way mutually exclusive. Not every piece a designer label puts out is perfect, and not every person with the money to drop on them knows how to style them correctly. Fallon has never had this problem and isn’t always so modest about it, either, like her oversized Gucci belt paired with that dreamy, geometric, 70’s-inspired print top.
Her strongest suit
Though I love all of her looks, Fallon’s suit separates are definitely my favorites. They’re always bright and bold, perfectly fitted, and never boring, Sometimes, she’ll throw a skirt into the mix for a look that can go straight from the boardroom to a night out on the town. (Not that she’ll ever have to worry about practicality.)
You can catch the next season of Dynasty and more of Fallon’s fabulous outfits starting October 12th, Friday nights on the CW.
