Say what you want about Cersei Lannister. Actually, don’t, because she’s my favorite Game of Thrones character.
No, I don’t condone her actions. Yes, she’s out of her damn mind. And yes: I do believe she’s the rightful heir to the throne. And even if she isn’t, guess what? She took it, guys, and she’s capable of doing it all without using big-ass overplayed dragons as an intimidation tactic. It’s hers. Don’t @ me.
Love her, hate her, or straight up wish for her to be beheaded, I don’t care. Just don’t try and tell me Cersei Lannister’s costumes aren’t some of the most gorgeous things you’ve seen on television.
“But Tristan, couldn’t you say that about most high-fantasy fashion?”
Sure… to an extent, a lot of it is elegant and well-designed when royalty is in mind. But, as I’ve said before, it all boils down to being memorable. I don’t remember any of Sansa Stark’s dresses. I hardly remember anything Daenerys wore and people focus on her more than anyone else. But, even as they’ve evolved over the years, I can identify a Cersei Lannister look instantly.
Open-neck gowns
The first two seasons of Game of Thrones featured Cersei in several of these stunning open-neck gowns. More often than not, she rocked them with giant bell sleeves and in the most amazing shade of Lannister red. (By the way, if someone wants to make me that lipstick shade, I’d be willing to pay big bucks for it.)
Hair for days
For the longest time, Cersei’s hair was just as mesmerizing as her outfits. Sometimes, she wore it in elaborate updos (that probably weighed a ton). Sometimes it cascaded in perfect waves all the way down to her waist. And now, even though it’s all gone, she’s certainly leaned into her short hair in a way you have to give her credit for.
Ready for battle
The black. The chain. The armored shoulders. The stance of a queen. Does this look like a woman you’d want to mess with? No, this looks like a woman that will blow up your sept and murder your entire family with a smile on her face. I never said she was a good person, but she is a total BAMF and certainly knows how to dress the part.
