Our ReedPOP takeover series continues! This week, we’re chatting with the team behind marketing some of the biggest comic cons in the country: ECCCC2E2BookConKeystone, and NYCC.

ReedPOP does something really cool with their convention marketing.

Each separate event’s marketing is run by a specific team of people. Of course, the marketing teams all help each other during crunch time. But, the entire marketing team doesn’t have to focus on every single event all the time. Because of this, each show can have its own cohesive story and voice.

Another exciting aspect of convention marketing is that convention events are expanding beyond the actual con. Events take place outside of the convention center during con weekend, and there are various related events taking place year-round. This team really focuses on putting on the best show for the fans in every sense.

One of the coolest things about ReedPOP is that it’s run by actual fans.

Actual fans who are super excited to be working on these events. The convention marketing team shares some of their best moments, from working with Make-A-Wish to fangirling over Drake to meeting Gary Fisher.

Their best advice for fans? Remember that there’s an actual person on the other side of social media and that not being a monster will most likely be your best bet for getting problems solved and questions answered. If you’re heading into a show for the first time, stay informed! Sign up for each show’s newsletter. Download the show app and follow the show’s social networks for the most updated information. (You can even turn on push notifications if you’d like.)

Say hi to a ReedPOP staff member if you see them at a con. They’re fans just like you! And let us know if you’ll be at any ReedPOP events because we’ll likely be there, too!

Have a great week, and thanks again for hanging out with us. If you enjoy the show, please help us out by subscribing, leaving a review, or checking out our Patreon at www.patreon.com/sartorialgeek.

Stay nerdy.
