Splurge on skincare in the name of self-care, they said. It’ll be fun, they said. (Okay, well, it is fun but also really, really dangerous for my wallet.)
Last year, skincare powerhouse GlamGlow teamed up with the recently revamped Power Rangers film for an exclusive line of their best-selling GravityMud masks in colors inspired by its villains. And thus, the GlamGlow Power Rangers GravityMud was born.
GlamGlow has really been tapping into everyone’s nostalgia lately– a few months prior to this collection, they released the same product in a Sonic the Hedgehog blue hue in honor of the game’s 25th anniversary. Most recently? My Little Pony-inspired shades, packed with glitter.
Their products don’t come cheap– I’m still savoring a mini sample of their moisturizer I got with a Sephora order– but these collaboration colors come in smaller, 1 oz tubes for less, and with an introductory promo code, the little, Pink Ranger-loving kid in me shrieked in excitement as she bought it.
GravityMud Power Rangers Exclusive, $21.00
I’m a sucker for gold beauty products, so I went with the mask in the Goldar color (it’s also available in Rita Repulsa green). The packaging was super cute– a perfect homage to its menacing namesake– and the mask came in a tube to make dispensing easy and mess-free.
I was excited to try this because finding a true peel-off mask nowadays from a brand I know will be easy on my sensitive skin is surprisingly difficult. I also love the appeal of a mess-free mask but have never found sheet masks to be as effective on my skin. This one is packed with hyaluronic acid to plump and firm your skin, plus red algae extract to fight fine lines. It’s also just really fun.

There are a lot of girls on Instagram nowadays that look super adorable showing off their skincare in photos. I… am not one of them. In fact, the moment I put it on, I couldn’t help but realize I’ve seen something like this before…
WHO WORE IT BEST?
Despite how silly I felt, I could feel the mask working instantly. I read to expect a little burn for first-time users, but it wasn’t anything unbearable, and eventually dulled out into a tingling sensation. After about twenty minutes, the mask had dried completely and I’d already felt my face tighten. Seriously. It could barely move under this stuff. It peeled off with ease, even in spots I was worried didn’t have enough product, which was a nice surprise.
The verdict? This stuff is amazing. Seriously. My stubborn skin felt firm and smooth and just all around incredible. I was expecting to be left a little red after all those burning sensations, but my skin looked better than ever– in fact, I think the mask calmed it a bit.
The GlamGlow hype is real and now I’m guilty of it. But if my skincare is going to be nerd-friendly, then I will happily indulge when my budget allows for it.
