A preview of Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure

Harry Potter fans unite! Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is now open at Universal Orlando Resort’s Island of Adventure.

The latest attraction added into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter- Hogsmeade takes riders on a journey through the Forbidden Forest with Hagrid as students in his Care of Magical Creatures class at Hogwarts.

If you’re planning a trip to Universal Orlando Resort you’re going to want to set aside a large chunk of time to ride the new attraction. Let us just tell you it’s worth it! When you walk into Hogsmeade the entry to the ride is just past the Hogwarts Express to the right. You’ll find an unassuming entry to the queue with stained glass, and “Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure” carved into the stone.

The Queue

As you walk through the queue you’ll be able to see the ride vehicles whizzing on the tracks. They look like Hagrid’s motorbike that dropped Harry Potter off at his aunt and uncle’s house. You will pass Hagrid’s Hut and see some of his garden has been wrecked by his magical creatures.

Venturing further you’ll enter “the graffiti room” where it looks like Hogwarts students have taken to the walls. You’ll spot a few references to the books and films including portraits of a Phoenix and the Ravenclaw house motto. As you enter the pre-show room you’re greeted by Hagrid and Mr. Weasley who are going to explain what’s going to happen in Care of Magical Creatures class today.

As you get closer to the loading zone of the ride you’ll pass by some of the dragon eggs Hagrid is keeping. In one of the cases in the far back corner on the bottom shelf you’ll notice the golden egg Harry Potter has to use to decipher a clue for the Tri-Wizard Tournament!

No Spoilers, But You Need To Know This

We don’t want to be giving too much away about the actual attraction because we hate spoilers as much as you do but we think it’s necessary to let you know about the differences in the two ride seats, our preferred place to sit while riding, and how intense the ride actually is.

The ride vehicle consists of the motorbike and the sidecar. The motorbike sits about six inches higher than the side car and allows for a more free feeling while riding. If you want to feel more secure and cozy while riding we suggest sitting in the side car. We tried out both the motorbike and the sidecar and prefer the motorbike. It’s a more thrilling experience and there’s an interactive moment during the ride if you’re sitting on the motorbike.

Hagrid's Animated Figure
Universal Orlando Resort has created its most life-like animated figure for the most highly themed, immersive coaster experience yet, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure – opening June 13. And it’s none other than Hogwarts gamekeeper and Care of Magical Creatures professor himself – Hagrid. (Credit: Universal Orlando Resort)

The coaster is coined as a “story coaster” and we definitely agree with that term. From the queue all the way to getting off of the attraction you are immersed in the story of Hagrid’s Care of Magical Creatures class. The attraction does have some intense moments including seven launches, which get up over 50 miles per hour, a backwards vertical drop, and a drop track that gives you a moment of weightlessness.

Overall, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is one of the best attractions we’ve ever been on and we cannot wait to ride again!
