My last Disneybound post, Light Side Style, outfitted you to represent the Jedi Order or join the Resistance when you arrive at Disney’s Star Wars-themed land Galaxy’s Edge. This time, I share Dark Side Disneybound options.

Where there is Light, there is also Dark, and that’s true at Black Spire Outpost, which includes the presence of the sinister First Order. So if you’re inclined towards Imperial might or the mysterious Knights of Ren, these looks are for you.

Dark Apprentice

With most Disneybounds, I break down outfits by color because most characters are associated with a certain set of colors. This doesn’t work for characters like Kylo Ren, whose costume is black on black. For this first outfit, I found non-color components of Kylo’s costume to translate into everyday fashion.

A detail that separates his outfit from others is his ribbed inner tunic. The texture is especially noticeable on the sleeves where it’s not covered. So, when I found this dress at a thrift store with the perfect kind of ribbing, I knew what to do. The mock-cowl neck is a nice call-back, too.

I styled this as a Disneybound more inspired by Kylo Ren than actually looking like Kylo Ren. Since I wanted this outfit to be less intimidating than a full-on closet cosplay, I paired it with JordandenĂ©‘s LET THE PAST DIE tee. It’s a different shade of black, which creates obvious layers, and tying the tee at the waist mimics the proportions of Kylo’s costume. Add black boots, and you’re done!

To make this Disneybound more closet cosplay-like, wear a hooded tank or a cowl-necked shirt over the dress and belt at the natural waist. You can also skip the top layer and add a black scarf instead. Wear black tights with knee-high or less-pointed boots. Sell it with attitude.

Imperial Style

Whatever your allegiance, you can’t deny the Empire and the First Order serve some seriously good looks. They make a grayscale palette elegant and dramatic. When you add Dark Side Force users adopting Imperial aesthetic into their own style, you get some cool costume design.

Seventh Sister, an Inquisitor (Imperial Jedi hunters) from Star Wars: Rebels.

Sith costumes come in a wider range than Jedi ones because their philosophy emphasizes individuality. Their costumes and those of Dark Force users can reflect the style of the people they work with, but also maintain personalized flair. The Seventh Sister’s outfit, for example, has recognizable elements of the Imperial Officer uniform, but her silhouette is distinct.

For this second outfit, I was inspired by those sleek lines and how the forces of the Dark Side have made all-black outfits different and interesting. I kept it simple again because I want to be able to walk around Batuu all day in it.

I chose sneakers instead of boots for comfort. The design of the shoe has a futuristic feel to me, so it worked. As with Kylo Ren’s outfit, contrasting textures can level up a monochromatic look. So I paired smooth pleather leggings with my athletic shoes and ribbed top. The headband ties it all together.

One thing I love about Dark Side outfits is how creative you can get with them. The female characters in particular aren’t afraid of prints, accessories, or purely fashion elements like cut-outs. I bought this cold-shoulder, quarter-sleeved top because it reminds me of Asajj Ventress, the Sith assassin from The Clone Wars, or a Dark Rey. I built my look from there.

Til the Spires!

Galaxy’s Edge wants to transport you to the Outer Rim and immerse you in Star Wars. Disneybounding helps you blend in with the denizens of Batuu, the First Order enforcers, or the scrappy Resistance fighters who inhabit Black Spire Outpost. Your dressing the part would make that experience richer and more fun! Think of how epic your photos will look!

Black Spire Outpost gives you the chance to write your own Star Wars story. It’s up to you how much you want to participate. Until then, I hope these posts have inspired you to Disneybound! May the Spires keep you!
