I’ve been so dang excited about this book, but I made sure to wait until 2020 to read it. Looking at the cover, it was made for me (always here for a good punk jacket). Plus it’s about babysitters and witches….me.

The Babysitter's Coven by Kate M Williams

The Babysitter’s Coven follows Esme Pearl, a high school babysitter. Her best friend, Janis, is the only other member of her babysitter’s club, based off of the books of the same name. But when a new girl moves to town and finds a note saying “find the babysitters,” the small Kentucky town is about to be shaken up. Esme and Cassandra both have powers, but they barely know what they’re doing. They have to figure it out quickly, before the world ends.

I don’t want to get too deep into it, because it’s a quick read, and you should be reading it. While I absolutely adored it, I think there were some abbreviations that may age it a bit in a couple years. I was not super into the use of “AF,” and “LOL” in sentences outside of text conversations. It was conversational, though, which was kind of nice.

Overall, I really loved this book. The follow up comes out this fall, and I will definitely be ordering it. When you read it, fellow geeks, let me know. I need to talk to someone about this book! And if you haven’t grabbed yourself a copy, do it now!

What is one of your most anticipated reads of 2020?
