Talk Nerdy to Me: Fandoms I Didn’t Expect to Love

Totally kicking myself for these now. Five fandoms I didn’t think I would love (and am now completely obsessed with).

1) Doctor Who

Space travel stresses me out, I’m not that into aliens, and I don’t like thinking about science too much while I’m trying to relax. But, once I finally gave Doctor Who a chance (and saw David Tennant’s sweet sweet face), I was hooked.

2) Mr. Robot

Nothing about Mr. Robot really interested me. I didn’t have a crush on any of the main actors, and I don’t really care about computers or hackers. Finally, after enough recommendations from friends I really trust, I gave it a shot. It’s everything. I’m sold.

3) Sherlock

Sherlock showed up on my Netflix recommended list for over a year before I finally hit play. What was I thinking??

4) Parks and Recreation

I don’t know why, but I’m super skeptical about comedies on network TV. Thankfully I got over myself and gave Parks and Rec a try. I can’t imagine my life without it.

And now for the biggest surprise…

5) Harry Potter

I did NOT grow up with Harry Potter. I never liked doing whatever all the other kids were doing, so I rejected everything about the wizarding world. Thankfully, when the last book came out, one of my friends finally convinced me to start reading… and I was forever changed.
